After 15 years of transforming education in Central America, School the World is launching in the Philippines—our first expansion beyond Latin America and a major step forward in our Moonshot 2030 vision.
This is a moment of both excitement and urgency. In the Philippines, over 165,000 classrooms are still needed to meet the basic educational needs of children. Teachers, especially in rural and remote areas, are doing their best with limited training and resources. Parents want more for their children but often lack the voice, tools, or support to advocate for better. These are challenges we know well—and ones we’re uniquely prepared to help solve.
We are currently operating in two provinces in the country—Palawan and Zamboanga del Sur—where we are launching our program across six communities, three in each province. This initiative is being implemented in close partnership with the Yellow Boat of Hope Foundation, working together to bring meaningful impact to these regions. This geography presents both great need and great opportunity for lasting impact.
Our approach remains the same: invest deeply in the entire learning ecosystem. We will train teachers, empower parents, and build schools in partnership with communities. But we also recognize that this is a new context—new language, new systems, new challenges—and we are listening first. That’s why we’re collaborating closely with trusted local leaders, including Yellow Boat of Hope, to ensure we adapt with humility and insight.
This expansion marks the beginning of a new chapter for School the World—and we’re building it with intention. Every dollar raised will go toward hiring local staff, developing culturally responsive training, and constructing the first School the World classroom in the Philippines.
We’re not just going further. We’re going deeper.
