Creating Lasting Local Change Through the Power of Education:

School the World creates sustainable change by working at a deeply local level to make quality education accessible to all children and families in rural villages of Central America.

Why Education?
We believe education is a vital component to alleviating poverty, increasing gender equality and promoting economic sustainability.

Local Support:
One very important part of the equation for long-term impact is our ability to partner with local governments. Every community we invest in, the local government donates the land, raw materials and/or labor to help with the school build. We supplement their resources with our expertise, resources and experience.

Why local?
Partnering with the local community guarantees that everybody has a vested interest in the success of the school. Equally important, it creates a lasting culture that values education and progress.

Our work is built on the belief that lasting change can only happen by:

  • creating a safe place for children to learn and thrive
  • securing physical and financial commitment from local government
  • deeply empowering parents through bi-monthly educational workshops
  • providing on-going training for teachers
  • supplying much needed books and learning materials
  • constantly measuring for improvement and success
  • nurturing global leaders through our Student Service Learning Program

I can’t read. I can’t write. I can barely speak Spanish. I never had the chance to go to school. I am so grateful to School the World because I now know my daughters have a different future. Maybe they will be a teacher someday and not be so poor like us.

Our Program Up Close

Through collaborations with other local organizations and commitments from the local government and community members, we are able to provide...

We only build in communities where there is a commitment for success by local governments.

One very important part of the equation for success is our ability to partner with local governments. Actually, we make it a requirement.

Every village we invest in, the local government donates the land, raw materials and/or labor to help with the school build. We supplement their resources with our expertise, resources and experience.

Partnering with the local community guarantees that everybody has a vested interest in the success of the school. Equally important, it creates a lasting culture that values education and progress.
